Evy Mitchell - CD Helps Raise Funds for Girl Talk
Girl Talk Girl Evy Mitchell has created her own CD, appropriately titled "Inspire". The CD includes some of our favorite inspiring songs & instead of purchasing the CD, you can email Amy (amitchell2001@comcast.net) to receive your copy at no charge. Evy simply asks that you make a donation in her honor to Girl Talk.
The list of songs on her CD includes Taylor Swift's Place in the World, Miley Cyrus' The Climb, Jo Dee Messina's Bring on the Rain, Lee Ann Womack's I Hope You Dance, The Lovin' Spoonful's Do You Believe in Magic, Katherine McPhee's Over the Rainbow, Natasha Bedingfield's Unwritten, Demi Lovato's Believe in Me, Jim Brickman's Never Alone and from the Wicked soundtrack, For Good.
We at Girl Talk can't thank Evy and her family enough for making this incredible CD possible. Her CD has already raised hundreds for Girl Talk and we look forward to watching her grow as an artist. We are certainly a fan! Thank you Evy for keeping us "Inspired".
Emily Huff - Jewelry Proceeds Help Girl Talk
Emily Huff, 11, entered a unique clothing store over the holidays wearing a necklace she just made at a friend’s house. The owner of that boutique commented on the necklace and eventually asked Emily to begin making jewelry for her store. In 2008, Pop Rocks Jewels was born and immediately began selling loads of custom, cool jewelry. Soon after, Emily went to her mom and told her that she wanted to donate her money to charity. Of course, not just any charity- it first and foremost needed to go to Girl Talk!Emily and Haley (Girl Talk Founder) met three years ago when Haley was the nanny for Emily's best friend, Carson. That day changed Emily's life! Emily found a “mentor” who inspires her to be the best person she can be each day by being kind, giving back and having courage when you are scared.
Haley asked Emily to visit the Atlanta Girls School Girl Talk Chapter and to inspire other (older!) girls to make a difference by telling her story about her Girl Talk necklaces. This wasn’t just an ordinary day for any of the girls; Hilary Cruz, Miss Teen USA was visiting the Girl Talk Girls as well!
As Emily walked into the room she found about 70 amazing girls seated in front of her podium. As you can imagine, she was scared out of her mind. Emily quickly remembered that Haley has spoken in front of 10,000 girls; so she knew what she had to do and that was get up there and speak from her heart. She did an incredible job and girls throughout the school were inspired to find their passion and help others. Even cooler, Emily truly grew leaps and bounds that day. She found a strength that she didn’t even know she had.
Pop Rocks Jewels has a line of jewelry named, The Hope Collection.
The entire line was created because Emily wanted to find a way to make money for Girl Talk. Emily is working hard to ensure that Girl Talk is available to girls all over the world and that is strong and thriving for Emily when she finally gets to middle school and gets to participate with her friends!
Naturally, the Girl Talk necklace has the word INSPIRE on a pink string. You can see Haley wearing the Girl Talk version in her picture. "I wear 'Haley's' necklace to help me remember to be nice and do good for others- plus it looks cool”, says Emily. Way to go Emily- you certainly “Inspire Us”! Hallie Spears - Sweet 16: No Gifts, Just Donate
We also heard from Hallie Spears, a Girl Talk Leader in Charlotte, North Carolina. Hallie has inspired us in a big way! Not only did she start the first Girl Talk Chapter in North Carolina, but she aspires to pilot the program for South Carolina as well. Hallie is turning 16, and for her birthday, she's asked her friends and family to donate to Girl Talk instead of giving her birthday gifts. Hallie invited Girl Talk Founder Haley Kilpatrick to her Sweet 16 Birthday Party, and we wanted to share her invitation and a few pictures with you. Wow! We are so thankful for community leaders and nice girls like Hallie and hope that she inspires you too!![]() |
