National Girl Talk Leader of the Year
Girl Talk is fortunate to have thousands of dedicated high school leaders around the country who are making a difference in the lives of thousands of middle school girls every day. The rapid growth and success of Girl Talk can directly be attributed to these amazing young women. To honor these young women, Girl Talk has created the National Girl Talk Leader of the Year Award, given in honor of our Founding Sponsor, the Bell Family Foundation. This award is given each spring to the Girl Talk Leader who best exemplifies the mission and values of Girl Talk and its Founder, Haley Kilpatrick. To nominate yourself or another Girl Talk Leader to be this year’s National Girl Talk Leader of the Year, please fill out the Nomination Form and mail the complete application to us by March 15th.
This year’s recipient of the National Girl Talk Leader of the Year Award is
Meredith Head.
Meredith Head is a senior in high school and Girl Talk Leader which gives her an outlet to use her leadership skills for a greater purpose. In middle school, Meredith was unsure of who she was. Growing up as an only child, she didn't have brothers and sisters to lean on, learn from or share emotions with. As a Girl Talk Leader, she enjoys reaching out to other younger girls who need a big sister. She is proud to help shape the next generation of girls who will become beautiful young women.
We are so proud of Meredith and wanted to share a few of her letters of recommendation. Hopefully, their words will inspire you as they have inspired us!

We had so many great nominations for our 2006-2007 National Girl Talk Leader of the Year that we've decided to recognize our two finalists in hopes that they too will inspire you, just as they have inspired us and the many girls that they reach in their community. Our two finalists are April Hollingsworth and Kaitlyn Mathis. Thank you for all that you do - we are so proud of you!

We also heard from Hallie Spears, a Girl Talk Leader in Charlotte, North Carolina. Hallie has inspired us in a big way! Not only did she start the first Girl Talk Chapter in North Carolina, but she aspires to pilot the program for South Carolina as well. Hallie is turning 16, and for her birthday, she's asked her friends and family to donate to Girl Talk instead of giving her birthday gifts. Hallie invited Girl Talk Founder Haley Kilpatrick to her Sweet 16 Birthday Party, and we wanted to share her invitation and a few pictures with you. Wow! We are so thankful for community leaders and nice girls like Hallie and hope that she inspires you too!
